Nyon

The web site updates are looking good. Here are a few photos from our blog that you can post on the Nyon page.

We are outfitting Nyon for offshore. We are going to leave Victoria in September of 2011 and head South to Mexico. Our refit includes structural and cosmetic upgrades inside and out, as well as getting systems up to date. We are adding solar charging and we are discussing the construction of a hard dodger. We installed a Hydrovane windvane steering system a few years ago and find that it is well suited to the hull profile. Kyra is also keen on building a nice opening skylight over the saloon table to improve the atmosphere below decks while we are in the tropics.

Aesthetics are important to us and there is a lot to like about an L-36. We are trying to make all of our upgrades work with the style of the boat.

Allen, I just found your site and I'm finding it a wealth of information. Thanks for putting it together and keeping it up to date. My wife Kyra and I bought Nyon in February, (as seen on the add on your site). We are gradually fixing her up with offshore voyaging as a long term goal. We moved aboard a few months ago and find her to be warm, dry, and generally comfortable. We keep her in Victoria's Inner Harbour. So far we have focused our refit on interior systems. We have a bunch of photos of details of the boat, but as it happens, we have very few of the whole boat and none of the boat under sail. We are hoping to get a bunch of the brightwork addressed in the spring. After we get her prettied up, we will send along some pictures.
