Winds should begin to increase Friday into Saturday...peaking Sunday with storm force wind gusts possible. Very steep and hazardous waves will accompany this wind event and mariners should prepare for dangerous conditions at sea. The strongest winds and highest seas will occur beyond 5 nm from shore. | PZZ300 856 Pm Pdt Wed Mar 27 2024 Synopsis for the southern oregon coastal waters..Breezy west to southwest winds along with steep to very steep and hazardous seas with showers and isolated Thunderstorms through this evening. Southwest winds increase this evening, reaching gale force north of cape blanco by Thursday morning. Thunderstorms could produce brief periods of strong gale force gusts on Thursday, especially north of port orford. A heavy west swell builds into the waters tonight into Thursday resulting steep to very steep seas, steepest north of cape blanco. Winds and seas diminish Thursday night into Friday, with a brief period of improved conditions. Winds become northerly Friday and stick around into the first half of next week, resulting in periods of steep wind driven seas. |
