DISCUSSION
Issued at 100 PM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024

Another beautiful day for the Florida Keys. The sun is shining, dew points are comfortably in the lower to mid 60s, and there is a little bit of breeze out. KBYX shows absolutely no precipitation echoes anywhere near the island or surrounding coastal waters.

The forecast remains on track for the next several days. Heading into the weekend, a sprawling continental high will spread southeastwards off the Atlantic coast and stretch well into the Gulf of Mexico. This will result in a stiff freshening of northeast to easterly breezes. This will also give a reinforcement of continental air and ensure dew points remain in the lower to mid 60s. Expect temperatures to remain near to slightly below normal. Deep layered ridging, lack of moisture, and a persistent subsidence inversion will likely extend our lengthy stretch of dry air.

The sprawling high will steadily weaken through the weekend as it settles southwestward along the Atlantic Coast. Expect winds to trend downwards from late in the weekend and through early next week. As this transition takes place, boundary layer moisture will trend upwards and local dew points will climb into the upper 60s.
This subtle moisture increase combined with fresh breezes will open the door for a slight chance for showers. No distinct temperature trend is expected.

MARINE
Issued at 100 PM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024

Gentle to moderate breezes will prevail in the near term as an Atlantic ridge remains extended westward across Florida. This high will be subsumed by a larger high spreading into the western North Atlantic late this week and into the weekend. This will be accompanied by sharply freshening easterly breezes. Small Craft Advisories are becoming increasingly likely for all Keys waters beginning Friday Night and lasting through the weekend. Winds will gradually taper back early next week as the high weakens and settles southwestward along the Atlantic coast.

AVIATION
(15Z TAFS)
Issued at 100 PM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024

Dry and VFR conditions will persist at EYW and MTH during the TAF period. Near surface winds will begin to surge to 10 to 15 knots tomorrow morning with gusts up to 20 knots. MVFR CIGs may occur in the late afternoon due to a cloud line along the Keys, but are not sufficiently dense to warrant a TEMPO group.
