New LONG TERM

SHORT TERM
(This afternoon through Thursday)
Issued at 1130 AM EDT Wed Apr 24 2024

With the influence of upper level zonal flow over the region, South Florida will remain in a drier and stable environment. The sea breeze regime will influence the bubble up of afternoon cumulus cloud coverage, but no precipitation is expected (PoPS <10%). Afternoon temperatures are on the rise to reach temperatures from the low 80s across the east coast into the mid 80s in the interior and Gulf coast. Overnight lows will cool into the 60s, while remaining around 70 degrees along the east coast.

Tomorrow's conditions will remain relatively unchanged and heavily influenced by high pressure & ridging. Easterly onshore flow continues to escort mild temperatures and breezy afternoon winds.
Temperatures will be just below seasonal, similar to today, with highs in the low to mid 80s. A slight rise in SW FL with temperatures in the upper 80s, approaching 90.

LONG TERM
(Thursday night through next Tuesday)
Issued at 205 PM EDT Wed Apr 24 2024

Upper-level ridging and a prevailing surface high will dominate the regional weather pattern, maintaining mostly dry and seasonable conditions throughout the period. A tightened pressure gradient near the surface will promote breezy easterly winds, particularly along the immediate Atlantic coast where wind gusts may range from 25-30 mph at times through the weekend.

Isolated showers may traverse the local Atlantic waters and the East Coast over the weekend due to low- level moisture advection, with the Probability of Precipitation (PoPs) limited to around 15-20%. Easterly winds will contribute to warmer temperatures, particularly in the southwest, where afternoon highs are anticipated to reach the mid to upper 80s. Along the East Coast, temperatures will be moderated by the easterly breeze, with expected highs in the low 80s.

AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 100 PM EDT Wed Apr 24 2024

VFR conditions will prevail through the 18Z TAF period. Winds will trend easterly this afternoon with speeds 10-15 KT and occasional gusts up to 20 KT. Gulf westerly breeze expected at KAPF by 20Z. Light and variable winds overnight into tomorrow morning at all TAF sites.

MARINE
Issued at 1130 AM EDT Wed Apr 24 2024

Hazardous marine conditions continue across the Atlantic waters, due to a northeasterly swell and breezy winds in the wake of a passing cold front to the northeast. Conditions are expected to gradually taper off throughout the day resulting in seas slowly subsiding. A persistent fetch of breezy easterly winds may allow for hazardous marine conditions later in the week and weekend.

BEACHES
Issued at 1130 AM EDT Wed Apr 24 2024

A high risk for rip currents will continue across all Atlantic beaches today and through much of the week in the presence of onshore flow.

FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 1130 AM EDT Wed Apr 24 2024

Minimum relative humidity values below 35 percent are possible today and tomorrow over portions of Interior SW Florida, in addition to the Significant Fire Potential Forecast being in the orange category. However, winds should remain well below Red Flag Criteria through the day as easterly flow weakens relative to previous days.
