Marine Weather and Tides
Pine Island Center, FL

Version 3.4
What's New / NOTES
5/20/2018 -- NOAA is having problems with the data feed that I use to draw the graphs. They are aware of the issue and working to resolve it. Sometimes changing the location by about a mile will give a correct graph. 3/3/2018 - There is a new GOES Satellite for the east coast that required rewriting that part of the code. Please report any issues.

Discussion
High pressure ridging across the area will weaken Friday as
an area of low pressure lifts into the central gulf of
mexico. Continuing to monitor this as it's chance of
development over the next 5 days is 80 percent. Will have
the potential for heavy rainfall and flooding regardless of
development across the area for the weekend. Current
forecast is on track for today with highs reaching into the
mid 80s to around 90 across the area and mainly afternoon
scattered showers and thunderstorms. No updates planned.

Aviation
Vfr conditions expected through 18z with light E SE winds.

Showers and thunderstorms will then be developing across the
area through the afternoon and early evening, with MVFR to
ifr conditions possible in thunderstorms. Winds will turn
onshore near the coast in the afternoon across the northern
terminals. Storms should diminish around 02z, with winds
becoming light and skies clearing out some overnight.

Marine
Winds and seas will be below cautionary levels through the
end of the week. May then see an increase in winds to
advisory levels for the weekend as an area of low pressure
lifts northward into the gulf of mexico. Will continue to
monitor this system for potential tropical development and
track. Regardless, this will bring numerous showers and
thunderstorms to the waters through the weekend, with winds
and seas higher in the vicinity of storms. Current forecast
has all of this covered well, and have little change for the
update.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
