Synopsis Light rain is forecast to persist over the north bay
through tonight before precipitation spreads southward on Sunday.

Breezy conditions and lingering showers develop in wake of the
frontal passage and continue into Sunday night. Dry conditions
return region-wide by Monday night with cooler overnight
temperatures. A gradual warming trend, especially with respect to
daytime temperatures, is likely during the latter half of the
week.

Discussion As of 01:42 pm pst Saturday... Light rain continues
to impact the far northern portions of the north bay this
afternoon as a modest plume of moisture advects inland across
northern california. Further to the south, cloud cover tappers off
with mainly sunny conditions over the south bay and central coast
where temperatures have warmed into the upper 60 to even lower
70s. Little change is forecast to occur through the remainder of
the day and into tonight with temperatures falling into the upper
40s to lower 50s.

Precipitation over the north bay will then begin to slowly shift
southward across the san francisco bay area around or after sunrise
Sunday and into the central coast by early afternoon. Precipitation
along the frontal boundary is likely to be light for most locations,
however lingering showers are expected to persist through the
evening and into the overnight hours heading into Monday. Rainfall
amounts are forecast to range from 0.25" to 0.50" for san francisco
and points northward. Meanwhile, most urban areas to the south can
expect less than 0.25" with some areas potentially seeing less than
0.10" from this system. The coastal ranges could see totals of
between 0.50" to 1.00" through early Monday morning. It may be the
lingering post frontal showers that end up producing the most
measurable rainfall. It is also worth noting that there is a non-
zero chance of thunderstorms as well Sunday afternoon, however they
are not expected to be widespread and confidence is low at this
time. Thus, have left out of the official forecast. Southerly winds
will also increase ahead of the front by Sunday morning and then be
gusty at times through Sunday night in wake of the frontal passage.

Wind gusts may approach 35 to 40 mph briefly with locally stronger
gusts possible in the ridges and peaks across the region. Do not
expect wind speeds to reach advisory criteria with this passing
system.

Once wind speeds diminish on Monday, temperatures will also turn
cooler region-wide. Look for daytime temperatures in the 50s Sunday
and Monday with slight warming through midweek. Overnight conditions
will also be cooler with 30s and 40s more likely as a result of
light winds and clear sky conditions. Seasonably cool conditions are
likely through the remainder of the week as daytime temperatures
continue on a gradual warming trend. Look for afternoon highs in the
60s to even lower 70s by late week and into next weekend as high
pressure builds over the region. Dry conditions and above average
temperatures look to continue heading toward the end of the month.

Aviation As of 4:43 pm pst Saturday...VFR-MVFR except ifr in
occasional light rain in the north bay tonight, light rain and
lowering ceilings and visibilities then spreading elsewhere Sunday
and Sunday evening. Gusty winds developing later Sunday afternoon
and evening.

Vicinity of ksfo...VFR, light winds tonight. Showers developing
Sunday. Gusty winds developing Sunday afternoon and evening.

Sfo bridge approach... Similar to sfo.

Monterey bay terminals...VFR, mainly light winds tonight and Sunday
morning. Showers developing Sunday.

Marine As of 4:33 pm pst Saturday... Generally light southerly
winds will continue across the waters today and tonight. Winds
will gradually shift out of the west northwest throughout the day
Sunday as a frontal system moves through. Northwest winds will
increase across the waters in the wake of the frontal passage
later in the day tomorrow. Occasional gale force gusts will be
possible over the outer waters late Sunday night. West swell will
continue to gradually diminish over the weekend before a northwest
swell arrives early next week.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
