Synopsis
High pressure remains centered across the southeastern states
through tonight. A cold front crosses the region from the north
Wednesday, then stalls across the carolinas Wednesday night.

High pressure pushes east Thursday as low pressure approaches
from the west.

Near term until 6 pm this evening
As of 310 am edt Tuesday...

latest msas has the pesky low of the past few days slowly pulling
away from the new england coast with high pressure settling over the
sern states. This high will result in a preview of early summer
without the higher humidity. Only concern is a weak trof progged
along the coast this aftrn. This will likely result in the dvlpmnt
of local sea breezes. Highs 80-85 with low-mid 70s near the water,
falling to or holding near 70 at the beaches due to local sea breeze.

Short term 6 pm this evening through Thursday
As of 310 am edt Tuesday...

low pressure tracks east across southern canada and the nern states
tonight. Models now differ a bit on how far south the trailing cold
front gets by 12z wed. NAM rap SREF a bit farther south with it ivof
i64 by 12z while the GFS has it near a sby-ezf line by 12z. Models
show most support for pcpn with this bndry dissipating as it drops
south, but it now looks like a stray shwr is psbl across the lwr md
ern shore late tonite. Thus, added a 20 pop there btwn 06z-12z. Dry
elsewhere. Expect a mstly clr eve then incrg clouds after midnight.

Lows upr 50s-lwr 60s.

The front slowly drops south across the local area wed. Models show
little moisture with the actual FROPA in the morning, but just enough
lift noted during peak heating hrs for slght chc pops across the south
and east in the aftrn. Thunder chcs appear low, but can't rule isltd
thunder along the zones bordering the albemarle sound due to wind
convergence ahead of the actual cold front. Highs upr 70s- lwr 80s
west of the bay, low-mid 70s ERN shore areas.

The bndry sags south then stalls across nc Wed night. Sct shwrs linger
across SRN most zones in the eve, then dry as weak high pressure builds
in from the north. Pt cldy north to mstly cldy south. Lows in the 50s.

S W energy is progged to track across the mts thurs as high pressure
slides off to the east. Moisture increases across the WRN half of
the fa during the aftrn. Will keep slght chc pops along and west
of i95 for now. Highs mid-upr 70s away from the water, upr 60s- lwr
70s near the water.

Long term Thursday night through Monday
As of 400 pm edt Monday...

medium range period begins with quasi-stationary frontal
boundary draped along just S of the va nc border Thu night.

Expect a period of showers Thu night through Friday night
across the area, as a pair of upper disturbances team up to
increase llvl moisture. Pops remain in 40-50% range for now
until timing is a bit better resolved by models. Kinematics look
less than favorable for strong to severe storms this time
across our area on Friday, but still enough instability modest
shear to include a slight thunder chance across southern half of
our area during climo-favored late aftn evening time frame on
Friday. Front slides offshore, with high pressure and quieter
weather expected for the weekend. Could see some light showers
Sunday afternoon and night, but otherwise dry and trending
warmer for the weekend.

Aviation 07z Tuesday through Saturday
As of 145 am edt Tuesday...

vfr conditions across the area as high pressure dominates. Some
fair wx CU psbl tues aftrn as winds turn w-sw at 10 kts or less.

Local sea breezes may briefly turn winds sse at sern TAF sites
late this aftrn. A bkn ac deck will overspread the lwr md ern
shore towards the end of the fcst period in advance of a swrd
moving cold front. Any shwr activity with this feature expected
to hold off until after 06z wed.

Outlook: the cold front crosses the region Wednesday with a chc
of showers across SRN va NE nc. Low pressure tracks N of the
region Thursday night, with the trailing cold front crossing the
area Friday and bringing a chc of showers. High pressure returns
Saturday.

Marine
As of 335 am edt Tuesday...

no headlines in the short term today thru Wed night. Early this
morning, low pressure was just off the SRN new england coast,
while high pressure was centered over WRN nc. W winds mainly
5-10 kt early this morning, will turn to the S and increase to
10-15 kt early this evening, as the high moves to just off the
se coast. Another area of low pressure tracks acrs SE canada
later today into Wed morning, dragging a cold front down into
and through the area. Ssw winds increase to 10-20 kt kt this
evening tonight, as the pressure gradient tightens ahead of the
approaching cold front. While a few gusts to SCA criteria 5 ft
seas 20 nm offshore cannot be ruled out from 00-12z wed,
predominant conditions will remain below advisory criteria. Sub-
sca conditions are expected behind the front on Wed (and will
likely continue into fri). The next chc for SCA conditions will
be Fri night into Sat morning after another cold front crosses
the region.

It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
