Synopsis Warming trend for NW california through next week,
with above normal temperatures and dry conditions expected for the
next seven days

Discussion A steady warmup is on the way for northwest
california as high pressure slowly regains control of the west
coast. Overnight lows were once again quite chilly across interior
valleys last night, particularly in trinity county where a light
freeze was recorded in hayfork. Temperatures tonight will again be
chilly, but not quite as cold as they were last night. Some isolated
pockets may still see some frost, however, particularly in the
vicinity of hayfork once again. Temperatures tomorrow will be
pleasantly mild, reaching very near normal values for the end of
september.

Temperatures will continue their steady upward climb Monday and
Tuesday, and remain warm through the end of the week. This will
equate to inland afternoon highs fluctuating between 5 and 10
degrees above normal, or roughly 85 to 95 degrees depending on your
specific location. Along the coast, temperatures will remain near
normal through tomorrow, but even here temperatures will gradually
warm to a few degrees above normal early to mid week. By Tuesday the
inland thermal trough will gradually shift offshore, and as a result
temperatures in the 70s will be possible in coastal areas through
Thursday... With little in the way of cloud cover as well.

Precipitation will be hard to come by for the foreseeable future, as
high pressure will maintain a firm grip on the coast. Brc

Aviation High pressure will continue to bringVFR conditions to
northwest california over the next 24 hours. Coastal sites will see
an increase in north to northwesterly winds this afternoon and into
the early evening ; however, they'll be short lived as winds turn
offshore tonight.

Marine This morning's ascat pass supports the small craft
advisories that are in place for the outer waters; however, the
inner waters have started to respond to the winds this morning.

Buoys are currently reporting gentle to moderate breezes and show
that the northwesterly swell continues to decay. As a result,
wind waves have not yet increased within the inner waters so we'll
continue to keep an eye out on that. If that is the case, we may
need to expire the small craft advisories later this evening.

Winds and seas will remain elevated for the outer waters through
Tuesday as high pressure dominates the forecast. Widespread gales
are not expected, although occasional gale force gusts are possible
here and there. Tuesday night into Wednesday winds will diminish
rapidly as an upper level low drops into the desert southwest and
disrupts the pressure gradient. Winds are expected to remain light
through the end of the work week. There may be some light southerly
winds in this period, but models are struggling on the details of
this. Next weekend northerly winds are expected to return.

No significant swells are expected through the week, although the
northwest swell is expected to linger around 3 or 4 feet at 10 to 12
seconds. Mkk kar

Fire weather Warming and drying conditions are expected over the
next 2 days, followed by a prolonged period of above normal
temperatures and low humidity. Nocturnal offshore winds will also be
a mainstay each evening through Wednesday, although not particularly
strong. This will result in moderate to poor overnight recoveries
along ridges. The most severe conditions are expected to occur east
of the region across the sacramento valley, and to the south in the
bay area; however, periods of critical fire weather will be possible
in portions of mendocino and lake counties Monday and Tuesday due to
gusty offshore winds and low humidity. Brc

It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
