Discussion
Aloft, at 500 mb, a 497 dam low currently over norton sound will
move over the yukon delta by 6 am Sunday. The upper low will then
persist over the yukon delta through Monday. This low will
continue to produce snow showers for the bering strait and saint
lawrence island through Sunday. The GFS is still producing the
most QPF with these snow showers for zone 213. The NAM and
european are both showing less qpf. We leaned more towards the nam
for pops and QPF once again.

At the surface, a 983 mb low south of nome will move to hooper
bay as 985 mb low by 4 pm Sat to kuskokwim bay as 993 mb low by 4
pm sun. A 994 mb low near barrow will move into the chukchi sea
by Sunday morning as a 995 mb low. Weak low pressure will persist
across the north slope through Monday.

West coast and western interior: winter weather advisory remains
in effect for zone 213. Snow and blowing snow will continue
through Saturday evening before conditions start to improve. Snow
showers will continue into Sunday for saint lawrence island but
winds will diminish slowly on Sunday. In addition to the snow and
blowing snow there is at least some possibility that freezing
spray from the bering sea could be blown onshore by the strong
winds resulting in small amounts of ice accumulating on structures
close to the shore. High surf advisory also remains in effect is
for savoonga and diomede. High surf potential will continue
through early Sunday morning.

North slope and brooks range: low pressure tracking across
the north slope will bring scattered snow showers for the western
north slope through Saturday afternoon. Stratus and flurries will
continue into Sunday.

Central and eastern interior: the coldest temperatures we
have seen so far this year will persist for the next couple of
days with some fog expected for the yukon flats and tanana river
valley this morning. Temperatures will warm a little over the
eastern interior this weekend as a bit of ridging pushes in from
the yukon.

Coastal hazard potential days 3 and 4... None.

Afg watches warnings advisories
High surf advisory for akz213.

Winter weather advisory for akz213.

Small craft advisory for pkz220-pkz225-pkz230.

Heavy freezing spray warning for pkz235.

Gale warning for pkz210.

The information on this web site has not been checked for accuracy. It is for entertainment purposes only and should be independently verified before using for any other reason. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
