Discussion.

Deep closed upper low with an associated 992 mb surface low currently sitting over the middle MS River value will bring much colder and dryer air into the forecast zones through the weekend. Upper low will drag slowly into the middle TN valley by Friday bringing cold-air advection through the next 24 hours. The deepest cold air advection will begin to occur later tonight and into Friday as low pulls off to the east wrapping cooler air onto the back side of it. Dropped MAX-T's down into the lower 60s north of the I-10/12 corridors for Friday as model soundings showing dewpoints depressions near zero around 850 mb. This could hold in throughout much of the daytime on Friday as cold air advection aids in cloud cover development especially far northern zones where highs on Friday will struggle to make it out of the upper 50s Friday afternoon. Winds will continue to be strong though Friday especially south of the lake as strong surface gradient of 10MB within 300 miles gradually lifts away as low departs . diminishing gradient thus the winds as well by Friday evening. Upper trough will finally move off the the mid-Atlantic as flow gradually becomes more zonal over the mid and Gulf south by Sunday. This will allow for a slow warming trend on Sunday with temperatures rebounding back up into the middle 70s on Sunday under clear skies and high pressure. Weather remains quiet through mid-week as high pressure remains in place over the forecast zones. An upper level trough swings down through the Arklatex and mid south on Wednesday bringing the next chance of rain Wednesday night/ Thursday. At this time it appears to be starved of tapping Gulf moisture as trough comes in on a positive tilt lacking airmass recovery as we work our way into early November.

AVIATION. VFR conditions will prevail as skies remain SKC through 00z. Winds will gust in access of 35 knots at NEW, MSY and HUM this afternoon. Ceilings will drop tonight as a BKN to OVC mid-level cloud deck rolls in and will remain in place through at least 18Z Friday.

MARINE. Gale warning remains in effect over the open coastal waters through midday Friday as a tight pressure gradient and cold air advection moves over warm waters. This will bring gusty winds along with elevated seas through the end of the week. Winds will finally begin to relax Friday evening into early Saturday as high pressure begins to settle into the coastal waters. Winds will gradually become more east . northeasterly by late Sunday into Monday.
