Photos showing evidence of old alignment of Mast step higher in boat. This is a long existing condition, not at all new. I don't completely understand what is going on here. How could the mast step have moved down so much?

It is a little difficult to figure out where the pictures below were talke from. Here is a guide.
The first one is looking horizontally aft from forward of the mast (seen on the right behind the head door which is hinged around the mast).
The next one is similar but from a higher vantage point.
The 3rd one down is a close up looing at the forward port edge of the mast step and the screws that used to hold the head bulkhead to it. The bulkhead with the hex nut was added 9 years ago.
The last picture is taken from inside the head looking at the bulkhead just behind the mast.

This small plywood bulkhead with the bronze cap on the top edge whould line up with the top of the mast step.

One of the questions is, did the mast step go down, or did the bulkheads go up? This shot shows the small clearance between this bulkhead and the hull indicating that the bulkhead did not go up but the mast step went down.

In looking at the paint marks on this bulkhead and the picrures of Eventide, it seems clear that the mast step used to be up where I put the dashed line. One obvious clue are the screws that go through the bulkhead and down to the mast step. It is interesting to see that the mast step has not moved relative to the bulkhead that was installed 9 years ago. It is possible it has moved 1/8 inch, but that is the maximum it could have moved in the 9 years since August 1997 when this bulkhead was installed.

This shot from in the head shows the screws that used to hold the bulkhead to the mast step and the screw holes they used to go through. Clearly either the bulkhead moved up, or the mast step moved down. I think the mast step moved down.
