at 1146 am edt, doppler radar indicated strong Thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These Thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near kitty hawk to the mouth of the alligator river to 9 nm south of albemarle sound, moving east at 40 knots. Strong to severe storms will continue to form through this evening.

Synopsis for eastern north carolina coastal waters.. A weak front will move offshore tonight. Hot and humid conditions and heat indices in excess of 105 degrees return starting tomorrow with the next significant front making its way into the area by late next week.
