Synopsis for northern california waters..Significant wave heights peaked at 18 feet this afternoon. The small craft advisory is extended into Friday afternoon/evening as the mid- period swell decays and winds diminish. A progressive closed low will drop down along the california coast Friday evening into Saturday with the potential to generate brief se gale gusts in the southern outer waters. Northerly gales and hazardous seas in the outer waters (especially north) is looking more probable on Saturday, but this will highly depend on placement and timing of the low as it migrates south. A long period northwest swell will build in for Monday, generated from the current low pressure system headed toward the gulf of alaska.
