Waves Are Provided As A Range Of Significant Wave Heights, Which Is The Average Of The Highest 1/3 Of The Wave, Along With The Average Height Of The Highest 10% Of The Waves Which Will Occasionally Be Encountered.
Synopsis.. High pressure of 30.3 inches over the upper midwest will continue to move east across the western great lakes and lake michigan today into tonight. Gusty north to northwest winds this morning will become lighter and more variable later today and this evening. This weekend several periods of strong winds continues to look likely across lake michigan, as strong low pressure averaging 29.4 inches tracks mainly east across south central canada and then up towards hudson bay. A trailing cold front will push across lake michigan Saturday night, followed by a stronger cold front on Sunday. Gales are likely for Saturday and Sunday with gusts possibly reaching storm force across the northern open waters later Saturday afternoon and evening, and again Sunday afternoon. Tonight..West winds 5 to 10 kt becoming southwest late in the evening, then becoming south 10 to 20 kt after midnight increasing to 15 to 25 kt late. Waves 1 to 3 ft building to 3 to 5 ft.
Saturday..South winds to 30 kt increasing to gales to 45 kt. Waves 4 to 7 ft occasionally to 9 ft building to 14 to 18 ft occasionally to 23 ft.
Saturday night..Southwest gales to 45 kt becoming west gales to 35 kt overnight. Rain showers likely in the evening, then chance of rain showers overnight. Waves 14 to 18 ft occasionally to 23 ft.
Sunday..Northwest gales to 40 kt increasing to gales to 45 kt. Chance of rain showers. Waves 8 to 11 ft occasionally to 14 ft building to 8 to 12 ft occasionally to 16 ft.
Sunday night..Northwest gales to 45 kt diminishing to 15 to 25 kt. Waves 8 to 12 ft occasionally to 16 ft subsiding to 5 to 8 ft occasionally to 10 ft.
Monday..West winds to 30 kt. Waves 4 to 6 ft occasionally to 8 ft.
