KEY MESSAGES
Updated at 1024 PM CST Wed Feb 11 2026
- Patchy Fog will be possible overnight into Thursday morning.
- Dry conditions and above normal temperatures expected through next week.
- A weak cold front will move through the region this weekend bringing drier air this weekend into next week could in lead to increased fire weather concerns.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 1024 PM CST Wed Feb 11 2026
Ridging aloft and sfc high pressure over the Gulf will continue to lead to warm and dry conditions through Deep South Texas through the end of the workweek. Tonight, we could see some patchy fog across the CWA but should dissipate by mid-morning. Visibilities may be reduced to 3 miles or less at times.
As we head into the weekend, a shortwave will move over northern Mexico and push through Texas on Sunday bringing a weak cold front through Deep South Texas Saturday night. This front could bring a low chance (10-20%) of rain along the coast during the day on Saturday. The front won't do much to cool temperatures during the day but overnight temperatures will fall into the 50s Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights versus the 60s. The front will also bring in a drier airmass which could raise fire weather concerns.
More on that in the Fire Weather Section.
AVIATION
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1024 PM CST Wed Feb 11 2026
VFR conditions will prevail through this evening at all aerodromes.
Later tonight into early Thursday, patchy fog is expected to develop that will lead to IFR/LIFR conditions. VFR conditions will return by mid-morning.
MARINE
Issued at 1024 PM CST Wed Feb 11 2026
Favorable marine conditions are expected through much of the period. As a weak front approaches and passes through the waters off the lower Texas coast Saturday night, Small Craft Caution conditions are anticipated Friday afternoon into Saturday afternoon and again on Sunday.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 1024 PM CST Wed Feb 11 2026
Based on the latest forecast guidance this weekends humidity levels will not fall in time to coincide with the strongest winds which could help mitigate any fire weather concerns. A better chance for any wildfire growth will be on Tuesday, mainly in the lower Valley, as humidity levels fall and winds increase due to a tightening pressure gradient. Will continue to monitor for the need of Fire Weather headlines this weekend and on Tuesday.
Regardless of the need for any Fire Danger products, fuels are cured so outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. |
