Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Brownsville TX 1225 PM CDT Sat Jun 21 2025
New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, AVIATION, MARINE
SHORT TERM
(Tonight through Sunday night)
Issued at 1221 PM CDT Sat Jun 21 2025
Southeasterly winds and tropical moisture will support continued rain chances tonight into tomorrow, with around a 20-30% chance mostly east of I-69C. This precipitation is expected to be isolated to scattered, with some areas receiving locally heavy rainfall and lightning with any thunderstorms that happen to form. Low temperatures tonight and tomorrow night are expected to get down into the mid-70s with calm winds and nearly saturated air. Skies should be mostly cloudy. High temperatures tomorrow should reach the mid-90s with partly cloudy skies and heat indices getting up to around 100. Beachgoers should exercise caution and remain situationally aware if swimming, as there is a moderate risk of rip currents.
LONG TERM
(Monday through next Saturday)
Issued at 1221 PM CDT Sat Jun 21 2025
Unsettled weather is expected to continue through all of next week, as tropical moisture will continue to pour into the region, bringing daily rain chances (around 20-30% each day) mainly east of I-69E.
Isolated to scattered showers and/or thunderstorms are expected, particularly along the sea breeze front. Temperatures will also remain steady throughout the week as well, with highs getting up into the mid-90s and lows getting down into the mid-to-upper-70s.
Humid conditions will also result from continued tropical moisture, and heat indices could be ten or more degrees hotter-feeling than the actual air temperatures.
AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1221 PM CDT Sat Jun 21 2025
VFR conditions are expected at all airports, though conditions could temporarily deteriorate in the immediate vicinity of any showers or thunderstorms. These are expected to continue for the next few hours with MFE being the most likely airport to be impacted by any showers/thunderstorms. Winds are expected to be southeasterly and could become gusty at times.
MARINE
Issued at 1221 PM CDT Sat Jun 21 2025
Moderate seas with potential Small Craft Exercise Caution conditions are expected for the next few days, with wave heights between 3-5 feet expected in the Gulf. By midweek next week, winds should be lower and seas should calm to between 2-4 feet, making marine conditions more favorable.
