New UPDATE, AVIATION
UPDATE
Issued at 744 AM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024
A dry and stable airmass continues to be in place this morning as everyone wakes up to sunny skies and lows in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Temperatures will continue to climb a little higher again today, but will be moderated along the coast by the sea breeze. The forecast remains on track.
.SHORT TERM (TDY-FRI)...
Issued at 431 AM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024
Another fairly clear and cool morning across the peninsula.
Meanwhile, an upper level ridge gradually dominating over the region before sliding and building along the East Coast. As a result, dry air and rain free conditions remain in place over the next several days. Light easterly winds prevailing with an onshore shift each afternoon. In terms of temperatures, highs warm up to around 90 degrees by Friday while dewpoints stay in 60s.
This should make conditions feel a little more tolerable. Visitors and residents should be sure to stay hydrated if performing outdoor activities.
.LONG TERM (SAT-WED)...
Issued at 431 AM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024
Going into the weekend, a disturbance moving north of the area could result in an increase in wind speeds as the pressure gradient tightens. Winds should decrease through the first half of the week and the sea breeze returns at least to coastal areas.
Afternoon highs remain in the 90s while overnight lows stay in the 60s.
AVIATION
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 744 AM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024
No significant aviation concerns as a dry airmass remains in place.
Only point of note is a westerly wind shift this afternoon for coastal sites as the sea breeze moves inland.
MARINE
Issued at 334 AM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024
Ridge of high pressure remains in control across the Gulf waters through the period keeping minimal weather concerns. Easterly winds will become onshore each afternoon remaining below 15 knots with seas of 2 feet and under. Then, the interaction between the ridge and a disturbance moving north of the area, could bring cautionary level winds to the waters for the weekend.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 329 AM EDT Thu Apr 25 2024
Area of high pressure continues to dominate across fire districts through the next several days. Minimum humidities are expected to be at critical levels each afternoon. Fairly light easterly winds prevail early becoming westerly behind the afternoon sea breeze.
Winds should remain light keeping any Red Flag Warning from being needed at this time, however a slight increase in speed is possible during the weekend.
