Latest satellite imagery and analysis depicts building mid/upper ridging over the SE U.S. this morning, with surface ridging extending across the area from the W Atlantic. A bit of a weakness aloft still remains over the peninsula east of the building SE U.S. ridging centered over the N Gulf, as evidenced via recent ACARS soundings depicting northerly mid level flow, while ACARS and KTBW VAD data depict established low level easterlies in response to the surface ridging. PW values are down 0.25-0.5 inches from 24 hours ago, generally around 1.5-1.7 inches per latest meso-analysis. Deep layer easterly flow will continue to become established today and Sunday as the mid/upper ridging builds across the TN/OH Valleys and Mid-Atlantic, favoring an easterly flow sea breeze regime setup with showers and storms focused across the W FL peninsula generally from the mid afternoon through evening hours. PoPs remain around 40-60% through the weekend while PW values gradually decline, then drop to 30-50% for much of next week with highest chances confined to south of I-4, before an uptick in moisture late week into next weekend leads to increasing PoPs across the area. High temps continue in the lower/mid 90s through the weekend into early next week before warming into the mid/upper 90s through mid week for areas away from the coast, with triple-digit heat indices for most of W FL.

Easterly flow today will result in thunderstorm activity along the west coast of FLorida mainly in the late afternoon and evening hours. I have gone with VCTS for all airports at that time. Added a TEMPO for TSRA for FMY and RSW where confidence is higher to see storms on station. Winds outside of thunderstorms will generally stay below 10 knots.
MARINE
Issued at 320 AM EDT Sat Jun 21 2025
Easterly flow across the waters through the weekend into next week, with coastal onshore flow with the afternoon sea breeze.
Shower/storm chances greatest late afternoon into overnight before diminishing. Locally higher winds/seas in the vicinity of storms, otherwise winds 10-15 knots or less. Seas around 2 feet or less through the weekend, locally up to 3 feet next week with stronger easterlies.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 320 AM EDT Sat Jun 21 2025
Minimal fire concerns expected through the period as high pressure building north of the area favors afternoon through evening showers and storms pushing west across interior and W FL. Drier air infiltrating the area next week will limit highest chances to south of I-4 through mid week before increasing moisture and associated showers/storms return late week into next weekend.
