Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 306 AM EDT Sun May 22 2022
DISCUSSION. Sun:Drier air moves into the area as a result of the Atlantic Ridge building over Florida. Rain and storm chances still remain for today but will be primarily caused by the typical seabreeze convergence late in the day. A strong easterly flow, means the isolated storms could develop closer to the coast as well as inland. Some storms could become strong with heavy rainfall and gusty winds. Expect high temperatures to reach into the 90s, including coastal areas.
Mon through Sat: The typical seabreeze pattern persists through most of the week as the high pressure ridge remains over the area. The ridge will be pushed out of the area by a frontal boundary moving into the area from the west along an upper level trough. AS the frontal boundary approaches and moves through at the end of the week, available moisture will increase and rain/storm chances will go up. The heat persists throughout the week, and high temperatures will hover around the low to mid 90s for most areas.
AVIATION. VFR with periodic MVFR conditions expected through early morning as low clouds move through the area. Showers and storms possible but models are not as aggressive with coverage so VCSH is mentioned starting around 20Z for most sites. Winds will shift from the E/SE to onshore with the afternoon sea breeze. This pattern will continue until the end of the week.
MARINE. Periods of exercise caution continue on most waters through today for winds up to 20 knots which could increase around any thunderstorms that may form or move over the waters. A strong easterly flow will begins to shift around and become more south southwest as the seabreeze tries to obtain control. This pattern will persist throughout the week.
FIRE WEATHER. Plenty of moisture around means no fire weather concerns for the next few days.
