DISCUSSION
Issued at 334 AM EST Fri Jan 24 2025
The area of low pressure and frontal boundary that has been lingering over the area the past few days will gradually move eastward into the western Atlantic through the day. Residual low clouds will stick around through mid-morning, then clear from north to south later this morning into the afternoon. Interaction between this front moving into the western Atlantic and strong high pressure over the eastern seaboard will keep a continued predominant northerly wind flow over the region for the next few days. Cold arctic air will continue to filter in on these northerly winds with well below average temperatures continuing through at least Saturday. Lows this morning will dip into the upper 20's to low 30's for the northern part of the Nature Coast and mid 30's to mid 40's over central and southwest Florida. This has prompted the issuance of a Freeze Warning north of Tampa Bay along the Nature Coast and a Cold Weather Advisory from Charlotte Harbor northward through 10 am this morning.
Daytime highs will only top out in the mid 50's to around 60 this afternoon. Overnight lows on Saturday morning will drop into the mid 20's to mid 30's. This has prompted the issuance of another Freeze Warning from Pasco County northward along the Nature Coast for Saturday morning. Frost will also be a concern, primarily north of Tampa Bay, for this morning and Saturday morning.
The upper level troughing that has been lingering over the eastern half of the U.S. will finally push eastward into the western Atlantic by Saturday morning allowing for a more zonal upper level pattern to set up over Florida. High pressure also moves over the southeast U.S allowing for rain-free conditions over the weekend as well as the start to a gradual warm up. Cool mornings are still expected on Sunday and Monday, but daytime highs will be back in the 60's and 70's by Sunday with the warming trend into the 70's expected each day starting Monday and continuing through next week.
AVIATION
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 334 AM EST Fri Jan 24 2025
Some lingering IFR CIGs around 500-700 ft will continue for PGD/FMY/RSW through around 10-11Z, then all terminals expected to remain VFR and rain-free for the remainder of the period. NNW winds less than 10 knots will persist through the period.
MARINE
Issued at 334 AM EST Fri Jan 24 2025
A frontal boundary continues to move eastward into the western Atlantic. High pressure builds in from the north producing rain-free conditions for the remainder of the forecast period. Some gusty northerly winds to Exercise Caution will be possible through Saturday afternoon, then decreasing winds and pleasant weather is expected starting Saturday evening and continuing into next week.
These northerly winds will keep cold conditions over the eastern gulf waters through at least Saturday, then a warm up is expected on Sunday and continuing into next week.
FIRE WEATHER
Issued at 334 AM EST Fri Jan 24 2025
A frontal boundary near Florida will push east of the area and high pressure then builds in for later today and into the weekend with rain-free conditions expected. Some critical RH values will be possible today, but winds will remain below 15 mph, so no Red Flag Warning should be needed. No other fire weather concerns expected.
