Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 814 PM EDT Mon Jul 6 2020

UPDATE. Convection continues to be rather persistent this evening. Earlier, a north-south boundary near eastern Hillsborough and eastern Manatee counties allowed for numerous showers/storms to develop with very little movement. Their resulting cold pools allowed for this boundary to slowly get nudged westward, consequently affecting western Hillsborough.

Underneath this strong west-southwest flow, along with ample moisture being advected across the state due to the broad low pressure system over GA/AL, there is little in the way to prevent these showers and storms from continuing through the remainder of the evening . A loss of diurnal heating will lesson coverage/intensity across inland areas. However, enough instability will remain over the nearshore waters and the immediate coast to allow convection to continue firing up. These will likely not make it far inland. The exception is across the Nature Coast, closer to the influence of the low. Only changes made were to the PoPs through the overnight to reflect current trends/thinking .

AVIATION. Prevailing VFR, but passing SHRA/TSRA will be capable of reducing conditions to MVFR or brief IFR through much of the overnight hours. All TAF sites will be monitored for amendments and TEMPO groups, if necessary. Otherwise, west winds will relax through the night. They will then increase once again to 7-11 knots during the afternoon, along with VCTS mentioned.

MARINE. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue into much of the overnight hours. Otherwise, west to southwest winds will persist through the period with winds/seas remaining below advisory levels. The main hazard will be from storms which of course will be capable of producing locally gusty winds, rough seas, and frequent deadly lightning.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
