Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Miami FL 144 PM EDT Tue May 13 2025

New SHORT TERM, AVIATION, MARINE

SHORT TERM
(Rest of today through Wednesday)
Issued at 138 PM EDT Tue May 13 2025

Upper low will move from the Tennessee Valley through the Mid- Atlantic through the period. There may be just enough moisture to spark a brief shower along the east coast seabreeze this afternoon, otherwise low-level high pressure and deep-layer dry air will result in benign conditions tonight into tomorrow. Expect lows tonight in the low 60s across the interior, and closer to the low 70s along the coasts. Highs will warm to the upper 80s across the eastern half of south Florida tomorrow, with near 90 degree temperatures to the west.

LONG TERM
(Wednesday night through Monday)
Issued at 205 AM EDT Tue May 13 2025

The end of the week through next weekend will be hot and dry across South FL as an upper level ridge parks itself over the Gulf and surface high pressure remains in control through the period. The big story is going to be the heat with afternoon highs reaching the upper 80s to lower 90s across the east coast metro and low to mid 90s over the interior. Combine the temps with dewpoints in the upper 60s to lower 70s, and max heat indices will approach 100 degrees across the metro this weekend, and as high as 105 over portions of interior SW FL. Little relief will be provided overnight, with lows generally in the upper 60s to lower 70s over the interior and mid to upper 70s closer to the Atlantic coast.

AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 138 PM EDT Tue May 13 2025

VFR will prevail through the TAF with relatively light winds. A few showers are possible along the east coast seabreeze this afternoon, especially from OPF southward.

MARINE
Issued at 138 PM EDT Tue May 13 2025

Light winds and low seas are forecast for the next several days as the calm center of high pressure remains nearby.
