Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 752 PM EDT Sat May 17 2025
New UPDATE, AVIATION
UPDATE
Issued at 740 PM EDT Sat May 17 2025 High pressure surface and aloft will continue to dominate the weather across west central and southwest Florida through Sunday.
Mostly clear skies tonight with some patchy late night/early morning fog possible, mainly across the nature coast.
Increasing high cloudiness on Sunday, but the main story will be the continued strong subsidence over the forecast area which will produce hot dry conditions with temperatures away from the coast climbing into the lower to mid 90s Sunday afternoon.
DISCUSSION
Ridging aloft west of the state will generally remain over the region through the weekend and into much of next week while surface high pressure stretches across the peninsula from the Atlantic. This setup will keep a relatively light southwest low-level flow in place, enhanced daily at the coast with the sea breeze. This will also keep rain chances low through mid-week, with the main story being the heat. Highs each day will top out in the mid to upper 90s away from the coast, and heat indices will reach around 100-105 as well.
For mid to late week, upper ridging starts to flatten as troughing moves by north of the region. An associated frontal boundary will move into the southeast and attempt to pass over Florida Thursday, bringing just a 20-30% chance for rain before high pressure builds back in for Friday and next weekend.
AVIATION
(00Z TAFS)

On Sunday, some increasing high cloudiness across the region...and combined with daytime heating generating some CU, expect conditions to generally be FEW- SCT040-050 and BKN250.
MARINE

FIRE WEATHER
