Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 205 PM EDT Fri May 23 2025
DISCUSSION
A weak and stationary frontal boundary remains over the Florida peninsula this afternoon, with some relatively drier air over the northern half of the forecast area (dew points in the 50s) and warm and humid air persisting to the south. For the rest of the afternoon and evening, highest rain chances will be for interior locations as the west coast sea breeze gets pushed inland by onshore flow and SPC does still have a marginal (level 1 of 5) risk for the far eastern part of the forecast area as a few of these storms could be on the stronger side.
For the weekend and into next week, ridging will build back over the region, with enough moisture in place to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms each day, with the best chances remaining over the interior. Conditions otherwise will be warm and humid.
AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
VFR conditions are expected through the forecast period. Still a chance of seeing a storm pop up over KPGD, KFMY, and KRSW, but also could miss these sites to the east. Convection diminishes for tonight with VFR expected overnight.
MARINE
Light winds and seas will remain over the waters for the next several days, with no headlines expected.
FIRE WEATHER
Relative humidity values near 35% are expected for parts of the Nature Coast again Saturday afternoon, but winds will remain below Red Flag criteria. Moisture will then increase for Sunday and beyond, with no further fire weather concerns. No significant fog is expected.
