KEY MESSAGES
Updated at 646 PM CDT Sun Apr 19 2026
- Well below normal temperatures through Monday
- Showers and a few thunderstorms through Tuesday (through Wednesday AM in the Victoria Crossroads)
- Minor Coastal Flooding possible into early next week.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 127 PM CDT Sun Apr 19 2026
Light scattered to widespread showers continue from the overnight hours though the southern Brush Country right now is in a pocket of drier conditions. CAM guidance shows shower activity remaining scattered through the evening with an additional round of more widespread shower/thunderstorm activity tonight due the shortwave energy aloft moving through. By sunrise Monday, this batch of moderate rainfall will move into the northern coastal plains, extending northwestward into the northern Brush Country. Latest guidance continues to keep Tuesday's rain chances above 60% for most locations E of I-37 as a shortwave trough moves through Texas bringing higher rainfall amounts to this area. All in all, an additional inch of rainfall can be expected for most locations, with 1-2 inches in locations where thunderstorms can more efficiently wring out the soupy air (PWATs ranging from 1.5-1.75" forecast through midweek).
Record low max temperatures are in play for all sites. CRP with a low chance of breaking 65, Victoria a bit higher potential with a current low max record of 68, and Laredo with a current low max record of 70 (early afternoon temperatures sit in the low 50s)!
Gradually warming temperatures are expected from Tuesday through the end of the week, likely back above normal by Friday. More zonal mid- level flow sets up and we will see a drier couple of days to finish out the week.
