- Low to medium (20-50%) rain chances Friday.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 1213 PM CDT Thu Jun 19 2025
A plume of tropical moisture has pushed into the western Gulf and is working it's way into South Texas which has allowed for isolated to scattered showers across the area today. A few storms will be possible this afternoon, but coverage should remain mainly isolated. Overnight, a weak inverted trough approaches the coast and we could see an uptick in coverage during the late night and morning hours, especially along the southern Coastal Bend. Will continue isolated to scattered coverage across the rest of the area through the day Friday. By Saturday the moisture plume is dissipating/moving west and will expect less coverage, though a few morning showers are still possible south. Mid-level ridging builds back over the region Sunday into next week which will bring overall dryer conditions, however a couple of shortwaves will bring a few periods of shower storm chances mainly over the waters and along the coast. Will see highs mainly in the 90s area wide through the weekend and much of next week with lows in the 70s.

VFR conditions will prevail through late night, before falling to MVFR levels early Friday morning. There is a low to medium chance for showers and thunderstorms to impact the eastern terminals on Friday. Therefore, have introduced some TEMPO/PROB30s to account for this. The showers could extend westward during the afternoon hours tomorrow, but confidence is not high enough to be included in the TAFs at this time. Aside from potential MVFR conditions with any developing thunderstorm, sites are forecast to return to VFR levels by mid Friday morning, and remain at these levels through the end of the cycle. Winds will decouple over the next few hours, becoming light overnight. Following a diurnal pattern, these are progged to strengthen back by the afternoon hours on Friday becoming gusty at around 20-25 knots.
