Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL 254 PM EDT Sun Jul 12 2020

DISCUSSION. A front is stalling across the northern half of the forecast area this afternoon, with high pressure ridging across Cuba. This puts westerly flow in place across the local area, with drier air in place across the northern half of the area behind the front. The majority of morning convection has pushed south of the area, but have continued some lower chances of rain for the rest of the afternoon inland and south as some good CAPE remains across those areas.

High pressure to the south will start to build back to the north for early next week with moisture moderating back across the area. The westerly flow continues through mid-week, then the ridge axis builds to the north of the area Thursday bringing a return to easterly flow across the area. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be possible each day. Highs will remain in the lower to mid 90s each afternoon, with lows in the mid 70s to around 80.

AVIATION. Have some VCTS in the inland and southern terminals through around 02z, then conditions should clear out through around 14z. Have some VCTS returning across the southern terminals after 14z where the best moisture is. VFR conditions prevail, but MVFR to IFR will be possible in storms. Westerly winds will be in place through this evening, then becoming more light SW overnight, and returning more to the west after 14z.

MARINE. Westerly flow continues across the waters with more of a NW component across the northern waters behind the front. The front will gradually dissipate through the evening. High pressure across Cuba then starts to build back to the north for early next week, with westerly flow continuing. Easterly flow then returns by Thursday as the ridge axis finally lifts north of the area. No headlines are expected through the period, but winds and seas will be locally higher near scattered thunderstorms.

FIRE WEATHER. No concerns. Humidities will remain above critical levels through the period.

NOTE: East coast views moved to GEOS-16. They are experimental and not well supported by NOAA so they may not be correct so be warned. This change required redoing a large amount of the GOES code. If the image you are expecting is not showing, please let me know. You may need to use the EDIT function to update your location.

I do not sell or share any user data or anything else for that matter. The only personal information I save is in the site log which has a line for each page view which includes the IP address your browser sends in the header as well as which page you requested. I use this to block hackers and other bad actors. I do not use this raw data to create profiles on users. I periodically delete the log files. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerous of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
