KEY MESSAGES
Updated at 100 AM CDT Sat Jun 14 2025
- Moderate to Major Risk for heat stress related conditions over majority of the region through late next week
- Increasing rain chances again late next week.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 100 AM CDT Sat Jun 14 2025
The forecast is continuing to remain on track from the previous issuance. Expect a low to medium chance (20-50%) for showers and thunderstorms each day due to the pattern remaining relatively stagnant through next week. This will be thanks to a ridge that is parked over northern Mexico and another ridge that is parked just off the east coast in the Atlantic. This will essentially allow onshore flow to persist over the region continually pumping moisture. With the presence of some passing shortwaves and the arrival of the sea breeze each day this will support those low to medium rain chances through next week. On the flip side with the added moisture in the region (PWATs around 1.8-2.00") through next week, heat stress conditions may be of concern as heat indices will be around 110+ through the middle of next week.
During the latter portions of the week, an inverted trough could approach the region which would likely lead to increased rain chances. Though given this being so far out, models aren't in good agreement in terms of a solution just yet. Therefore, this will be closely monitored as we enter next week.
AVIATION
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 100 AM CDT Sat Jun 14 2025
VFR/MVFR conditions will prevail tonight with IFR visibility and ceilings possible for ALI early Saturday morning. A low chance for showers and thunderstorms remains for VCT between 16Z-18Z but with low confidence, this is not mentioned in the TAF. Otherwise, VFR conditions are expected with south to southeasterly winds. Winds could gust to around 20 knots at times.
MARINE
Issued at 100 AM CDT Sat Jun 14 2025
South-southeasterly moderate to fresh breeze (BF 4-5) will persist into next week, with a few periods of Small Craft Exercise Caution, mainly over the south bays and nearshore waters in the afternoon and evening. A low to medium (20-50%) chance for showers and thunderstorms will persist daily through the middle of next next week.
