Synopsis for high island to the matagorda ship channel out 60 nm including galveston and matagorda bays
onshore winds will be resuming today. We could see some patchy fog spill over across inland areas briefly spill over into the upper parts of the houston ship channel late tonight and early Wednesday morning. A weak frontal boundary will be sagging into the water Wednesday evening, but it will be short lived with onshore winds resuming during the day Thursday. If water temperatures do not climb much between now and Saturday, we may see another brief round of sea fog develop Saturday evening and night in advance of another slightly stronger front expected Sunday morning. Scattered showers and isolated storms in advance of the front will end with its passage followed by moderate northeast winds in its wake.

New AVIATION
KEY MESSAGES
- Areas of fog tonight.
- Weak frontal passage (dry) Wed afternoon/evening, though .
- Another warm-up Fri-Sat, followed by some scattered showers and thunderstorms and cold front Sat night-Sun morning.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 1259 PM CST Tue Dec 9 2025
With light onshore winds, higher dewpoints and mclr skies...look for some areas of fog to develop overnight. A weak, albeit dry, frontal boundary will sag into the area Wednesday and off the coast Wednesday evening. Other than a brief wind shift back to the north and a subtle drop in temps, most probably won't even recognize it. Southeast winds resume Thursday afternoon, bringing a gradual return of Gulf moisture and warmer temperatures Friday and Saturday. Surface high pressure dropping into the nctl CONUS toward the Midwest and Mississippi Valley will send the next front into and through our region Saturday night and Sunday. Scattered showers and isolated storms appear to be a possibility in advance.
Brunt of coldest air behind this front will bypass us to the e/ne, but we'll see readings back into the 40s at night and 55-65 during the day into early next week. An approaching mid-upper trof should provide our next shot of some rainfall Tue-Wed of next week. 47
AVIATION
(00Z TAF Issuance)
Issued at 512 PM CST Tue Dec 9 2025
Some potential for fog tonight, with most confidence of impact at LBX, where a TEMPO for IFR remains. Have MVFR mentions for all other TAF sites other than GLS, which will have enough wind off the Gulf to keep fog at bay.
Beyond that, focus is mainly on the winds - S/SE for now, becoming light and variable overnight and coming back up as SW/WSW in the morning. Weak front moves through, shifting winds to NW/N through the afternoon and early evening. Don't go explicitly NW yet at SGR, LBX, or GLS...but that will come next cycle.
