KEY MESSAGES
Updated at 1229 PM CDT Sat Jun 21 2025
- High temperatures will remain at or slightly below normal for the next several days, whereas low temperatures will remain at or slightly above normal.
- Chance for showers and thunderstorms will be on the rise for the upcoming work week.
DISCUSSION
Issued at 1229 PM CDT Sat Jun 21 2025
Through the end of the weekend, Southeast TX is expected to remain under the western-southwestern periphery of a mid-level high pressure located over the Lower Mississippi River Valley, limiting shower and thunderstorm development across the region.
Regardless, there may be sufficient moisture and instability for isolated showers near and along the coastal regions during the morning hours, followed by isolated showers and thunderstorms further inland during the afternoon to early evening hours.
Otherwise, expect sunny to partly cloudy skies with southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph in the afternoons.
High temperatures will be in the lower to mid 90s for areas north of I-10 and in the upper 80s to lower 90s for areas south of I-10. Heat indices will be in the lower 100s for much of the region and even if these values are below Advisory criteria, make sure you continue to practice heat safety if you plan to work or spend time outdoors. Tranquil conditions expected during the overnight hours with low temperatures mainly in the mid to upper 70s inland and the lower 80s along the coasts.
Look for increasing rain chances during the upcoming work week as the mid-level high pressure moves into eastern and northeastern CONUS. Several mid to upper-level disturbances just southwest of the high pressure will then move across Southeast TX throughout the week. Vort maxes will also be passing overhead from time to time and combined with sufficient moisture, diurnal heating, and instability, expect a rather active weather pattern throughout the week. Look for showers developing over the Gulf waters and areas south of I-10 during the morning hours, followed by showers and thunderstorms expanding further inland during the afternoon to early evening hours as diurnal heating and instability increases.
Showers and storms will dissipate during the late evening to night hours.
Daily high temperatures for next week will remain mostly seasonal (upper 80s to lower 90s)...possibly a few degrees below normal during the second half of the week thanks to the increased cloud coverage and rain. Meanwhile, the low temperatures will be either at or a few degrees above normal (mainly in the mid to upper 70s).

AVIATION
(12Z TAF Issuance)
Issued at 602 AM CDT Sat Jun 21 2025
VFR conditions with some FEW to SCT low level clouds will persist through today. SSE winds around 8-12kt will develop by the late morning and continue through sunset with a few higher gusts possible during the afternoon. Cannot out rule a few isolated showers or thunderstorms popping up this afternoon either, but coverage will be low enough to not warrant even a PROB30 in the TAFs. Some MVFR conditions may be possible late tonight into early Sunday morning across the north, mainly impacting CLL and UTS if they develop.

MARINE
Issued at 1229 PM CDT Sat Jun 21 2025
Light to occasionally moderate onshore winds and seas generally between 2 and 4 feet are expected for the next several days. Seas could reach 5 feet over the offshore waters from on occasion.
Daily chance for isolated to scattered showers and storms will continue for the next several days. Higher winds and seas may occur in and around storms.
Moderate to high risk for rip currents along the Gulf facing coasts.
