SHORT TERM
(Today through Friday)
Issued at 216 AM CDT Thu May 22 2025
Stalled front along the coast will continue to provide a chance of rain and a few storms to coastal areas mainly over SELA today. The front will remain where it is for today but start to move north again by Fri. There is a chance that some fog form tonight if we can lose the cloud cover. The moisture recovery is due to the rainfall taht was see yesterday, so those areas that recieved rain will have the highest chances of getting fog for Fri morning. This could be dense in a few spots but is not expected to be widespread. Rain is not expected as the front moves north Fri and Fri night. But the muggy, hot air will be returning.
LONG TERM
(Friday night through Wednesday)
Issued at 216 AM CDT Thu May 22 2025
A new front will begin to move in from the NW by the start of the new week. This will cause some sh/ts to develop well ahead of this front for Mon becoming more numerous as the front moves into the area Tue. This should cause the best chance of rainfall across the area. Numbers supporting severe storms are higher to the north and NW of the area for Mon and Tue but there is some evidence for supporting at least a low risk of severe storms Mon and Tue.
Depending on whether this front slows at the coast or stalls, we could see some sh/ts last into Wed and Thu.
AVIATION
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 216 AM CDT Thu May 22 2025
VFR cigs through much of this cycle. There could be some low level cigs and vis in the IFR range develop late tonight into early Fri.
MARINE
Issued at 216 AM CDT Thu May 22 2025
A front has stalled at the coast and will remain there today causing winds to be weak and erratic until Fri when the front moves back north and winds become SE again around 10-15kt. There is a chance of storms with this front again today which could cause winds and seas to rapidly rise in and around them. South to SE winds will remain through the weekend but should remain manageable around 10-15kt.
