Dry post-frontal airmass, characterized by precipitable water values around 0.75" per the latest GOES imagery, will cap any chance of showers locally again today. While the primary front remains to the south, another secondary boundary will slow and become diffuse as it reaches the in this afternoon. Despite a zonal steering flow, the afternoon heat will drive the Atlantic sea breeze inland. With the buoys measuring sea-surface temps around 80F, the beaches will be held to the mid/upper 80s for highs today while inland locations boost back into the mid 90s. Mixing of dry will keep humidity low resulting in heat index values close to actual air temperatures today.
Tonight, quiet weather continues as surface high pressure builds from the north. Nearly clear skies will all temperatures to cool in to the 60s inland and lower 70s at the coast tonight.
SHORT TERM
(Saturday through Sunday night)
A stalled front will sit over central Georgia this weekend, before lifting northward Monday. West/southwest slow Saturday will bring moisture across northeast Georgia, leaving rain chances at 20-30% over north central Florida with isolated thunderstorm potential in the afternoon. Scattered showers and storms spread area wide on Sunday as southwest flow deepens and the Atlantic sea breeze pushes inland. Above average temperatures continue this weekend with highs in the 90s inland and upper 80s to low 90s on the coast.
LONG TERM
(Monday through Thursday)
Daily rain chances will be in place through next week as a cold front approaches from the northwest mid-week. The highest storm chances will be in the afternoon and evenings inland as sea breezes push inland and interact, but some isolated storms will last later into the night Monday and Tuesday. High temperatures remain in the 90s through Wednesday, before cooling down a little bit Thursday following the frontal passage.
