New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, AVIATION, MARINE

SHORT TERM
(Today through Wednesday)
Issued at 235 AM CDT Tue May 20 2025

A new front will move into the back of the stalled front over TX forcing the new combined front to move east again this morning. As this front gets closer to our area late today(mainly overnight) it will bring cloudy skies and about a 30% chance of any location measuring rainfall tonight through Wed. The front will stall along or near the coast Wed with sh/ts mainly along the coast of SELA into Wed night. The front will actually bring in some drier dew pts which will feel a lot more comfortable and cloudy skies will keep temps a few degrees cooler Wed as well.

LONG TERM
(Wednesday night through Monday)
Issued at 235 AM CDT Tue May 20 2025

The cooler and drier dew pt air will remain into early Fri before the muggy heat comes back during the day Fri. A new front will begin to move in from the NW by late Sunday. This could cause some sh/ts to develop well ahead of this front while becoming more numerous as the front moves into the area by Mon. This should cause the best chance of rainfall across the area that we will have seen in several days. Numbers supporting severe storms are higher to the north and NW of the area for Monday but there are some evidence for supporting at least a low risk of severe with this front. This is a ways out, so we will need to get closer to find a solution to these variables.

AVIATION
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 235 AM CDT Tue May 20 2025

MVFR to VFR cigs will remain into mid morning and lift to at least VFR by noon. VFR cigs will remain until after dark and MVFR cigs will set in again. Vis does not look to be an issue at the moment and should stay >=3sm.

MARINE
Issued at 235 AM CDT Tue May 20 2025

SE winds 15-20kt will remain through Tue with higher gusts. Winds will start to ease Wed morning and shift to SW as a cold front approaches. The front will stall near or at the coast Wed causing winds to become weak and erratic until Fri when the front moves back north and winds become SE again around 10-15kt. There is a low but credible chance of storms with this front which could cause winds and seas to rapidly rise in and around them. South to SE winds will remain through the weekend but should remain manageable around 10- 15kt.
