SHORT TERM
(This afternoon through Tuesday)
Issued at 256 PM EST Mon Jan 13 2025
Low pressure continues to move east across the northern Gulf of Mexico. The low should make landfall along the central west coast of Florida early this evening, cross the peninsula overnight and move out to sea by early Tuesday. Regional radar shows a broad shield of light precip well to the north of the low center, but the higher reflectivities have moved well south of the CWA However, copious cloud cover remains across much of the central and southern portion of the CWA and it will slowly decrease from north to south for the remainder of the afternoon.
As the low center moves off into the western Atlantic, high pressure will build back in from the west. Dry conditions and slightly below normal temps expected for the remainder of the short term period.

LONG TERM
(Wednesday morning through next Sunday)
Issued at 256 PM EST Mon Jan 13 2025
Expecting high pressure to dominate the area through much of the week into the early weekend which will ultimately lead temps to slowly rise into the mid 50s by Friday for much of the area.
Portions of northeast Georgia in the mountains are expected to only top out in the mid 40s though. These temps will get us to 5-6 degrees above normal through Friday which is definitely a change from the below normal temps into Friday.
Looking towards the end of the week our next system looks to push in from the west which looks to push in a blast of arctic air which will quickly drop those above normal temps to well below normal Sunday into Monday. Our next shot of precip looks to come through the area Friday overnight into Saturday. Current QPF values are at 1-1.5 inches for this event. The precip should stick around through Sunday into Monday but thunderstorm chances are low at this time. Pops look to decrease into early Monday but any lingering moisture in the northern GA mountains would result in snow for this area.Too soon to know details though, but it will be frigidly cold.
