KEY MESSAGES
Issued at 1213 AM CDT MON APR 20 2026
- Critically dry fuels, strong winds, and low minimum relative humidity behind the front will keep fire weather conditions elevated through much of the upcoming week.
- Next rain chances will be late Friday into Saturday.
DISCUSSION
(Monday through next Sunday)
Issued at 1130 PM CDT SUN APR 19 2026
Overall, we will see a more zonal configuration through midweek.
This will allow temperatures to moderate to near to slightly above seasonal normals. Most of the synoptic scale remains well north and west of the area, resulting in dry weather through at least Friday. The next trough will move into the area late Friday into Saturday hanging tough through the weekend. This will increase our rain chances, although not a total washout.

AVIATION
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1213 AM CDT MON APR 20 2026
VFR conditions and light winds between 5-10 knots prevail through this TAF cycle. There is a low chance for some very patchy fog at TCL and MGM around sunrise. Did not include in the TAFs at this time as confidence is fairly low. Will make amendments if needed.
NOTE: Spring seasonal issuance of the TAF for KASN is now being issued and will run through 04/29 18z.

FIRE WEATHER
Afternoon humidity levels will be close to critical values over the next several days, as temperatures moderate and dewpoints remain in the 30s and 40s. Fortunately, winds are expected to become and then remain less gusty through the rest of the week.
Next chance for rain will not come until Friday at the soonest.
