UPDATED AVIATION DISCUSSION

.SHORT TERM (Today through Friday)...
The NKX sounding on Tuesday before sunrise showed the beginning of the drying of the mid level moisture with the drying aloft continuing into the weekend as a weak low pressure system moving toward the California coast brings drier southwest flow aloft.
With the drying aloft, low temperatures for inland areas will be cooler with low temperatures for inland areas around 10 degrees cooler than those of the past few days by the end of the week. In addition to drying aloft, the marine layer will slowly deepen with coastal low clouds spreading farther into the inland valleys for early Thursday and early Friday.

Cooling of high temperatures will continue to spread inland into the weekend. High temperatures on Friday will range from slightly below average near sea level to 4 to 8 degrees below average for the mountains and inland valleys. High temperatures on Friday will range form around 70 near the coast to the upper 70s to mid 80s for the Inland Empire with 100 to 104 for the lower deserts.

Southwest to west winds for the mountains and deserts during the afternoon and evening will be stronger with gusts to 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph in the northern Coachella Valley below the San Gorgonio Pass.

.LONG TERM (Saturday through Tuesday)...
There will be slight additional cooling on Saturday followed by slight warming on Sunday. There will be greater warming of around 5 degrees per day for Monday and Tuesday with Tuesday high temperatures ranging from within a few degrees of average for the coast and valleys to 4 to 8 degrees above average for the deserts. High temperatures on Tuesday will range from the lower 70s near the coast to the mid 80s to upper 90s for the Inland Empire with 106 to 110 for the lower deserts. High temperatures for the latter half of next week for inland areas could warm another 5 degrees or so.
