KEY MESSAGES
- Post Tropical Cyclone Isaias has pushed off to the northeast with only some lingering precip across the eastern portion of the CWA
- Gusty gradient winds around 25 mph are possible this afternoon as drier air approaches from the west.
- Quiet weather is expected for the upcoming work week.
SHORT TERM
(Today through Monday)
Issued at 455 AM EDT Sun Oct 11 2026
Gusty southwest winds are all that's left of the weekend's tropical event. As the day heats up, winds will increase to 10-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph across much of the CWA By the overnight hours into Monday, those values should ease as the system continues to push off to the northeast. A few showers will be possible today, mainly across north and eastern Georgia, but little additional accumulation is expected.
Cloud coverage will keep temperatures a few degrees below average today with highs in the low 70s and overnight lows in the mid 60s, but a warming trend is expected after Monday and into the long term.
LONG TERM
(Monday night through Saturday)
Issued at 455 AM EDT Sun Oct 11 2026
The extended periods begin with a large high pressure ridge centered over the northern Gulf keeping north and central GA warm and dry. Temperatures Tue through Fri will be in the 80s to near 90s with lows in the 50s to near 60. This ridge stays entrench across the southeastern U.S. through much of next week but it does slowly weaken allowing decent moisture return by Thu/Fri. Not expecting any precip chances through day 7 but we will begin to see some increased cloud cover by Thu/Fri.
By next weekend, some of the model runs are beginning to indicate the possibility for a strong cold front to push down from the north that will bring fall back into the region.
