SYNOPSIS
A few light showers will be possible today as a weak boundary moves south into the region. Temperatures will remain several degrees below normal through the weekend.
NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/
Northwest flow will continue aloft through the day today while at he surface, a very weak surface trough will drop southeast across our area. Between this subtle forcing and some weak low level instability that will develop through the day, a few light rain showers will be possible this afternoon under fair weather cumulus.
Temperatures will remain several degrees below normal with afternoon highs in the low to mid 60s.
SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM SATURDAY/
Weak high pressure will build down into our area tonight and then remain in place across the Ohio Valley into Saturday. This will lead to dry conditions with temperatures slightly moderating, although still remaining cool for this time of year. Lows tonight will be in the 40s with highs on Saturday in the mid to upper 60s.
LONG TERM /SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY/
Temperatures will be below normal for most of the long term and then approaching closer to normal temperatures late in the long term.
Dry conditions will start out the long term Saturday night. A system will bring rain shower chances to near and south of the Ohio River during the day on Sunday. These precipitation chances are expected to shift southward Sunday night into Monday leaving dry conditions across the region.
A system will work up from the south Monday night bringing precipitation chances to the region. There are still some uncertainties with how this interacts with another system moving into the region from the west on Tuesday. Some light precipitation will have the potential to linger into Wednesday. There are some indications that another system will bring additional precipitation chances to the region on Thursday, however confidence is lower with that system at this time.
AVIATION /13Z FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/
Northwest flow will continue aloft today as a weak surface trough drops southeast across our area. This will allow for sct-bkn VFR cu/stratocumulus today and perhaps a few spotty showers. Pcpn chances appear low enough though to leave any mention out of the TAFs. High pressure will build into the region tonight, leading to decreasing clouds. With light winds, some patchy river valley fog will be possible later tonight, possibly affecting KLUK toward the end of the TAF period.
OUTLOOK.. MVFR conditions possible Tuesday.
