DISCUSSION
SYNOPSIS
Dry weather continues into next week. Slight cooldown expected through the weekend with periods on breezy onshore flow. Warming trend by Tuesday, followed by areas of Moderate HeatRisk in the Valley and foothills on Wednesday.
KEY MESSAGES
* Today-Monday:
-Gradual cooling trend expected through the remainder of the week. Primarily Minor HeatRisk as temperatures become more seasonable.
-Probability of Valley High Temperatures > 90F: --Northern/Central Sacramento Valley: 30-50% Fri-Sat, 40-85% Sun-Mon --Delta, S. Sacramento Valley, N. San Joaquin Valley: 10-30% Fri-Sat, Sun-Mon 35-70%
-Onshore flow expected to persist with periods of breezy winds, mainly in the afternoons and evenings and strongest across the Delta and vicinity. Breezy westerlies over the Sierra.
* Tuesday-Wednesday:
- Above normal temperatures with areas of Moderate HeatRisk in the Valley and foothills by Wednesday. Potential for triple digit heat in the northern Sacramento Valley; low to upper 90s in other Valley locations.
-Probability of Valley High Temperatures > 95F: --Northern/Central Sacramento Valley: 50-85% Tue, 60-95% Wed --Delta, S. Sacramento Valley, N. San Joaquin Valley: 10-30% Tue, 50-70% Wed
-Warming and drying trend by mid-week may bring a brief period of elevated fire weather conditions, mainly across the northern Sacramento Valley.

VFR conditions with mostly clear skies are expected to continue at TAF sites over the next 24 hours. Surface winds will generally below 12 kts over the northern Sacramento Valley again today. In the Delta area, we'll see sustained winds over 12 kts and gusts will get up to 25 kts between 21z today and 06z Saturday. In the southern Sacramento Valley and northern San Joaquin Valley after 21z today, sustained winds will get up to 12 kts with gusts around 15 to 20 kts through 06z Saturday.
