KEY MESSAGES

- Quiet and cool weather will prevail today through Saturday... with the next chance for thunderstorms arriving by Sunday.

DISCUSSION
Issued at 227 AM CDT Thu Jun 18 2026

Thankfully, after yesterday, our forecast is pretty benign through Saturday afternoon. There could be some light showers this morning as a shortwave pushes through, also bringing some cloud cover as well.

Temperatures will be cool for summer today with highs in the 70s, warmest near Lawrenceville nearing 80. The rest of the extended forecast through the next week, temperatures will remain slightly below normal. Highs in the mid 70s to low 80s and lows in the mid 50s to mid 60s.

The next decent chance for rain arrives Saturday evening into Sunday night as a shortwave pushes into the state from the west. On Sunday, there is a 70-90% chance for showers and thunderstorms. PWATs are around 1.8-2.2 inches, so flooding could become an issue again Sunday. QPF is forecast to be 1.5-3 inches. WPC has a marginal risk ERO for north of I-72 and a slight risk ERO south of I-72 for Sunday. At the time of this forecast, severe weather is not expected. After Sunday night, the forecast is dry until mid/late week next week when some 10-30% POPs are introduced.

AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z FRIDAY/
Issued at 552 AM CDT Thu Jun 18 2026

The 12z TAF period should be VFR throughout the whole time. By late morning into early afternoon an area of clouds with lower ceilings of 3500-5000 ft heights will move over each site. Winds out of the northwest today around 8-12 knots. They will become nearly calm, with skies clearing by sunset this evening which will last through the end of the period. Added VCSH to SPI as some very light showers may be in the area this morning, gone by 18z.
