Through Monday night...

Quiet and very dry conditions continue through the rest of the holiday weekend. A mid-level saddle point will shift into the western Great Lakes through tomorrow as the persistent Rex block drifts toward the eastern Great Lakes and mid-Atlantic. Model guidance continues to overperform with daytime surface dew points, with some guidance running 5 to as much of 10F too high in the near term. Fading evapotranspiration from increasingly dormant vegetation and 4" soil moisture running near/at record low values is likely negatively affected performance of near surface model fluxes in some guidance. Have continued to lean toward HRRR/RAP T/Td trends in the near term for the past few days, and will continue to do so through Memorial day. This supports inland temps pushing into the mid 80s with afternoon RH values in the low 20s to upper teens Monday. So while wind speeds will generally remain under 15 mph through the period, the combination of very low RH values, low fine-fuel moisture values, and the potential for many outdoor activities near fire sources (e.g. grilling, fireworks), caution is needed for a localized grass fire risk.

Tuesday through Sunday...

The quiet weather pattern continues into mid-week, as the Low pressure system off the mid-Atlantic coast struggles to move northward due to the dominate stacked High pressure over the northeast CONUS. With these two systems not being able to track out of the Atlantic till late week, the main flow of potential weather will come from the east...associated with the mid-Atlantic Low. Model guidance is beginning to depict some "potential" precipitation to return across the Midwest starting mid-week into the second half of the week. However, at this time it does not appear anything significant is anticipated to develop as excessive dry air lingers over the region. Any precipitation will need to work with "weak rising" Td's into the upper 50s and 60s before any chance of real precip development would occur. Went ahead and limited PoP mention to slight chance, along with the option of thunderstorms if we get diurnal development. Otherwise, looks like the long term should remain dry for a majority, if not all of the forecast period.

Temperatures around the region are expected to continue climbing into mid-week where highs are forecast to reach 90 inland Wednesday and some locations could see low 90s by the end of this week. Closer to the lakeshore, temps are forecast to climb into the upper 70s to around 80 by Thursday.

For the 00Z TAFs...

No significant aviation weather concerns with VFR conditions continuing. NE winds will diminish and trend light and variable tonight. Another lake breeze will bring renewed northeast to easterly winds to the terminals Monday morning and afternoon.
