This Afternoon and Evening

A shortwave trough will move through the region this afternoon and early evening. There might be a few showers and storms mainly south of Interstate 90 on the northern edge of the anvil shield. Even if they do develop, they should not last too long.
In the wake of this trough's passage, the cold front will move south into the Mid- and Lower Mississippi River Valley. High temperatures will be in the 70s. Low temperatures tonight will range from the mid-40s to mid-50s.

Sunday through Monday morning

High pressure will build across the region on Sunday and keep the area dry into Monday morning. Temperatures will be unseasonably cool. The largest temperature anomalies (around 10F) will occur on Sunday when high temperatures will range from the mid-60s to lower 70s. Low temperatures on Sunday night will once again range from the mid-40s to lower 50s. West winds on the west side of departing ridge will bring slightly warmer temperatures into the region on Monday with high temperatures in the lower and mid-70s.

Monday afternoon and night

Another shortwave trough will move through the region. 0-1 km CAPES will climb up to 300 J/kg ahead of this trough. With weak 0-3 km and 0-6 km shear (less than 25 knots), not anticipating any organized severe weather. Low temperatures will range from the mid-40s to mid- 50s.

Tuesday through Friday

The polar jet will move northward toward the region. This jet will be very active with several embedded shortwave troughs. As a result expect, periodic showers and storms from Tuesday through Friday.
Like yesterday, there is plenty of uncertainty on whether the instability and shear will be co-located at any time during this time period. As a result, it is uncertain whether there will be any organized severe weather. With the polar jet remaining to our south and west, temperatures will be remain below normal in the 70s for high temperatures and range from the mid-40s to mid-50s for low temperatures.

VFR conditions expected for the next 24 hours at the terminals.
Winds will remain out of a general northwesterly direction with gusts to between 20-30 kts to pick up later this morning and continue for much of the day before tapering off into the evening.
