Synopsis
A ridge of high pressure will gradually build up across the
pacific northwest today and Tuesday. This will bring clearing
skies and warming temperatures. By Wednesday, a system over the
pacific will push onshore and bring cooler and wetter conditions.

This will not last long as another ridge of high pressure will
build across the area by late week with warming and drying weather
conditions expected.

Short term today through Wednesday
Plenty of lower clouds and temperatures in the 60s across the
area this morning. The onshore flow will gradually weaken today
and so more sunshine is expected this afternoon. Readings should
rebound into the 70s for most. Tuesday to feature drying and
warming trend with mid level ridge of high pressure building
across the area. This will be in advance of a trough pushing
onshore into central bc out of the pacific on Wednesday. This will
feature height falls, cooler temperatures and rain across the area
on Wednesday. The parent system will remain well north of the area
and the trough that impacts western washington should remain
progressive enough to cut rain off by Thursday morning.

Long term Thursday through Sunday
Any lingering showers Thursday morning should end quickly as
heights rise again with a flat mid level ridge building across the
region while another system pushes into central bc well north of
the area. This should allow Thursday and into Friday to bring a
warming trend. The flow does become more zonal by Friday into
Saturday and so temperatures will likely remain near seasonal
normals with increased cloud cover. A strong ridge of mid level
high pressure will remain suppressed well to the south of the area
by the late week and weekend time period, with no significant
weather features expected for western washington.

Aviation Light low level flow into Tuesday morning. Westerly flow
aloft becoming southwesterly tonight and Tuesday.

Stratus lingers over W wa this morning with current satellite
showing mid level clouds running over top. A mix of CIGS over the
area with pwt the only station reporting ifr CIGS as of this
writing. Most locations are reportingVFR conditions already this
morning... An improvement over the past few days... While the south
sound area has a cluster of MVFR conditions... Including sea and bfi.

With weak surface flow in place... Clear conditions are expected by
afternoon and any overnight stratus will likely be confined to right
along the coast... Likely only impacting hqm.

Ksea... MVFR CIGS persisting into late morning before quickly
scattering out around 19z-20z with clear skies expected overnight.

Southwest winds will become northerly between 22-00z. Wind speeds
will be generally around 5 knots. Felton smr

Marine Light low level flow today and tonight becoming
southerly and increasing Tuesday as a front approaches the
waters. The well organized front will move through Wednesday with
small craft advisory southerlies ahead of the front over the
coastal waters, entrances to the strait of juan de fuca and
northern inland waters and post frontal small craft westerlies in
the strait. Will continue to monitor but models have been pretty
consistent on this feature and as such see no reason to stray from
this thinking at this time. High pressure will build over the
coastal waters behind the front Thursday. A weaker front will move
by to the north later Friday. Felton smr

Hydrology The daily hydrology discussion has ended until the
start of the next rainy season; it will only be updated as needed
until then.

Sew watches warnings advisories
Wa... None.

Pz... None.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
