Synopsis for the southern california coast and santa barbara channel including the channel islands national marine sanctuary and national park..At 03z, or 8 pm pdt, a 1029 mb high was located 900 nm west of Monterey. A 1100 mb thermal low was northeast of las vegas. Hazardous marine conditions, with strong winds and steep seas, will continue spreading across the coastal waters and persist through the weekend, into early next week. Gale force winds will occur across most of the outer waters, with high- end gale force winds at times. Gales are also expected for the inner waters north of point sal and over western portions of the santa barbara channel.
