New NEAR TERM, SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, AVIATION, MARINE

NEAR TERM
Issued at 210 PM EDT Tue Jun 4 2024

For the latest NE FL and SE GA Daily Key Messages please visit: https:// www.weather.gov/media/jax/briefings/nws-jax-briefing.pdf

Nearly stagnant flow will persist through today and tonight as high pressure situated to the northeast over the Atlantic gradually drifts eastward and high pressure over the gulf moves northward, making for a slightly more westerly upper level flow pattern going into Wednesday. Mostly scattered afternoon showers and storms will build in association with the diurnal sea breeze pattern, initially forming for areas near and along the I-75 corridor and west of I-95 and then later building into inland southeast Georgia and across northeast Florida primarily to the west of I-295. Convection will disperse overnight with dry weather and clearing skies anticipated for early Wednesday morning. High temperatures this afternoon will rise into the upper 80s and lower 90s over inland areas and into the mid 80s for areas adjacent to the coast. Overnight low temperatures will drop down into the upper 60s and lower 70s.

SHORT TERM
(Wednesday through Thursday night)
Issued at 210 PM EDT Tue Jun 4 2024

The Atlantic sea breeze will keep high temperatures beach-side a bit cooler on Wednesday, with inland highs reaching the lower to mid 90s, with mid to upper 80s along the east coast. PWATs will finally bounce back to the 1.75-2.0" range Wednesday, promoting numerous showers in the afternoon/evening, with isolated thunderstorms mainly along sea breeze interactions.

Temperatures along the coast will heat up beginning Thursday as southwesterly flow builds, preventing the Atlantic sea breeze from filling in and cooling things down. High temperatures will reach the 90s area-wide Thursday, with very mild lows in the low to upper 70s. Higher rain chances continue into Thursday as a frontal boundary approaches from the northwest.

LONG TERM
(Friday through next Tuesday)
Issued at 210 PM EDT Tue Jun 4 2024

Hot temperatures continue through the weekend, and with southwesterly flow maintaining, highs along the immediate coast will even be able to reach the mid to upper 90s. Timing of the front's passage still has some uncertainty, it looks like the front will pass through our area Friday night, then stall and weaken just south of the area leaving isolated precip chances Saturday and Sunday over NE FL. Another front appears to trail behind at the beginning of next week, increasing precip chances again on Monday and Tuesday.

AVIATION
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 210 PM EDT Tue Jun 4 2024

VCSH and VCTS anticipated for TAF sites this afternoon, with early developments anticipated for GNV at around 20z and potentially extending through 06z tonight. Atlantic sea breeze winds will push inland this afternoon producing winds from out of the E-SE for sites at around 18-20z with winds becoming more mild and variable overnight at around 01-04z. VFR conditions are expected to be in place overnight following the dispersal of convection with the diurnal pattern of convection rebuilding on Wednesday towards the end of the forecasted period. Significant overnight and early morning fog developments are not anticipated.

MARINE
Issued at 210 PM EDT Tue Jun 4 2024

High pressure to the northeast will continue to bring southeasterly winds across the waters with winds stronger winds this afternoon with sea breeze development occurring across the nearshore zones during the afternoon hours, through Thursday. Flow turns offshore late this week as a weak cold front approaches from the north. The front is expected to push into and through most of the area waters Friday night into Saturday before eventually stalling across local waters as weak high pressure builds in behind from out of the northwest. Shower and thunderstorm chances will increase across waters late this week as flow becomes more offshore and chances for convection will continue on into the weekend, building predominantly within the vicinity of the stalled front.

Rip Currents: Moderate risk of rip currents at all beaches today and Wednesday.
