Discussion
Hurricane maria continues to move northwest away from puerto rico,
but the southerly moisture flow on the southeast side of maria
lingers. The outer bands of maria extend over 400 miles to the
southeast of the center. This southerly moisture flow will
unfortunately remain through the weekend which will increase rain
chances and maintain breezy conditions across puerto rico and the
us virgin islands.

Any rain that puerto rico receives, which is hard to detect with
the tjua radar down, will aggravate the ongoing record flooding
on many of the rivers. Heavy rainfall and standing water is
continuing in many locations away from rivers which presents its
own difficulties. Mudslides have occurred and will likely continue
with any additional heavy rainfall. Thus, will keep the flash
flood watch up across all of puerto rico and the us virgin
islands.

Heat index values will be in the mid to upper 90s today and
tomorrow but will push 100 or more by the weekend. This will make
recovery efforts difficult and overall living unpleasant as
electricity remains out across the island.

Easterly trade winds will not return until the middle of next
week.

Aviation
Hurricane maria continues to move away from the region with wind
speeds and gust beginning to subside as we move through the taf
period. Lingering moisture particularly on the west side of puerto
rico with MVFR conditions in those regions. Usvi have begun to see
some drier air and conditions should improve for these regions with
winds gusting 20-25kts. Moisture from maria will allow vicinity
showers and storms to be possible across the us virgin islands. Amd
not sked remains for all terminals, continue to check with
authorities for airport closures.

Marine
Hurricane maria will continue moving away from the local
waters allowing the occasional tropical storm force winds to
subside in the the waters northwest of puerto rico. Elsewhere a
small craft advisory is in effect with south winds of 20 to 30
knots slowly lessening late this evening. More moderate south-
southeast flow is expected through the weekend with seas
continuing to subside.

Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain, locally higher winds
and waves, and reduced visibilities will be possible in the outer
bands of maria through the weekend.

Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
