The mean layer ridge persists over central mexico, meanwhile the
latest short wave trough complex is pushing southeast across cuba.
As such, heights are rising at all levels across florida based on
last evening's RAOB analyses. The surface high is near the
carolina coastlines, maintaining moderate northeast to east
breezes across the coastal waters of the florida keys.
Temperatures are in the lower 70s with dewpoints in the lower 60s
(dps several degrees lower than expected). Skies are mostly clear
and the kbyx radar is sans echoes.
The surface high will slide east into the western north atlantic
today, dragging the ridge axis on its western flank southward down
the florida peninsula. This axis will be across the keys tonight,
resulting in clear skies and light air, an ideal setup for
radiational cooling. Dewpoints should range from 63 to 68
degrees, which the falling temperatures will target. On Sunday, a
vigorous cold front over the gulf of mexico will quickly lose its
gusto as it works southeast towards the keys. This front will
stall across the keys Sunday night as the high developing in the
southeastern united states bridges the boundary. The 1000-925mb
thickness estimates indicate a short window of cold air advection
is possible late Sunday night early Monday morning. A breezy and
cloudy day is expected Monday, with 30 percent rain chances and
highs struggling through the upper 70s. The low level gradient
will relax sharply on Tuesday and Tuesday night as the next round
of height-carving, pacific short waves dig into the gulf of
mexico. Guidance continues to suggest an atmosphere which is
conducive for the development of a non-tropical low pressure
system over the gulf of mexico Tuesday through Wednesday night.
Thus, we advertise increased rain chances Wednesday through|
Friday, followed by what is likely our next cold front, Friday
night or Saturday, next weekend.
Small craft should exercise caution until winds decrease and seas
subside across the straits of florida. From synopsis, an area of
high pressure currently near the carolina coastline will push east
into the western north atlantic today, then drag a ridge axis
southward down the florida peninsula tonight. Winds will continue
to collapse today, and light breezes are expected tonight. A
vigorous cold front will rapidly weaken across the gulf of mexico
on Sunday, then stall near the florida keys Sunday night. High
pressure will strengthen and broaden over the southeastern united
states Monday and Monday night. Fresh northeast to east breezes
will spread across the keys Monday morning. Winds may be a little
higher or lower than forecast, depending on the exact positioning
of the stalled front. A non tropical low pressure system may
develop over the gulf of mexico Tuesday through Wednesday night.
Vfr conditions are expected at the keyw and kmth terminals today.
Northeast to east winds at 8 to 12 knots will become northeast
and decrease after sunset to around 5 knots or less.

The information on this web site has not been checked for accuracy. It is for entertainment purposes only and should be independently verified before using for any other reason. There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
