Discussion
A review of data from the key west morning radiosonde balloon
revealed moderately unstable atmosphere with weak convective
inhibition and weak environmental shear. However, some dry air was
evident in the lowest 10,000 feet. Analysis of 24-hour
geopotential height trends indicated height falls owing to the
erosion of the large, western north atlantic subtropical
anticyclone. Lower-tropospheric wind speeds are just now
responding to a slightly weaker southeasterly gradient flow along
the southwestern flank of the anticyclone. Currently, skies are
mostly sunny across the florida keys and adjacent coastal waters,
with air temperatures in the mid to upper 80s and dewpoint
temperatures in the mid to upper 70s. Heat indices are approaching
100f in most keys island communities.

Low-level dry air entrainment will be a significant limiting
factor for deep cumulus convection this afternoon. Based on the
radiosonde balloon data and recent doppler radar trends, we have
reduced rain chances for the remainder of the period (through 1800
edt). Both digital and derived forecasts are updated and available
via normal channels.

Marine
No watches, warnings, or advisories are in effect for florida keys
coastal waters. A bermuda high will govern the weather pattern
across the florida keys and adjacent coastal waters from this
afternoon through Friday.

Aviation
Vfr conditions will prevail this afternoon and tonight for both
terminals.

Climate
On this date in florida keys history, in 1903, a low temperature
of 69 degrees was recorded in key west. This set the daily record
for coldest low temperature for june 26, a record that still
stands 114 years later. Temperature records in key west date back
to 1871.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. If you have questions on these, please contact the author. 3) Articles that represent my personal opinions. These are intended to promote thought and for entertainment. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
