Discussion
Currently - after a subtle morning cold air drainage surge off of
south florida, winds have relaxed. High pressure spreading into
the extreme southeastern united states is generating a gentle to
moderate northeast background flow, with the highest winds over
the florida straits. Very stable conditions persists with a nearly
dissipated very low level nocturnal inversion and a subsidence
inversion around 900 mb and significant dry air aloft. Skies are
variable due to swathes of cirrus streaming northeastward.

Short term update - as south florida warms and the high continues
to spread southeastward, winds will try to shift northeast and
east northeast. However, our cool gulf and bay side waters, near
60 in the shallows, will keep winds over the island chain more
backed. Expect day time temperatures the push into the upper 60s
with dew points moving into the mid 50s. Rain chances will remain
zero today under variable skies, but tending mostly cloudy. No
changes anticipated for the local forecast.

Marine
High pressure spreading southeast and eastward across florida and
the southeastern united states will maintain moderate breezes
across keys waters. Winds will tend weaker and more backed
northeast over our cool gulf and bay side waters, while they will
become more east northeast and higher over the florida straits. A
caution remains in effect for the florida straits. Changes made to
first period winds in the morning marine update. Over the next
couple of days the high pressure to our north will elongate
eastwards into the atlantic. This will keep keys waters on the
edge of the higher wind belt on the ridges southern periphery.

This along with the cooler waters will keep winds strongest on the
florida straits, and weaker over the cooler northern waters.

Aviation
Rest of today,VFR conditions will prevail at both the keyw and
kmth int'l terminals. Surface winds will average from 050 degrees
around 9-12 knots.

It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
