Synopsis Surface high pressure will spread across the lower
mississippi valley on tue, reaching north florida on Wed morning.

This will push a cooler and drier air mass into the keys. A turn
to southeast wind during the day on Wed will start the return of
warmer and moister air. The next cold front will arrive on Friday
night or Saturday, preceded and accompanied by a few showers and
possibly thunderstorms, then followed by modest cooling.

Short term In the wake of last evening's cold front, moderate
to fresh northwest breezes are trying to usher in a cooler air
mass. Air temps will fall through the upper 60s this evening on
the way to lows near 60f late tonight.

Have added slight chance pops to the middle and lower keys
tonight and Tuesday morning. During that time, the tail end of an
upper trough will cross the northeast gulf, further deepening the
cool and well-mixed low-level air mass over the warm gulf waters.

The 12z NAM shows CAPE values of 100-200 j kg off the florida
west coast on Tue morning. In addition, looks like an area of
focus and lift will develop off the southwest florida coast as
n-ne land breezes off the florida peninsula interact with
northwest synoptic scale winds over the open gulf to provide low-
level convergence off the coast. Northwest flow within this well
mixed and unstable layer will then advect showers toward the lower
and middle keys late tonight and Tue morning. As synoptic winds
become more northerly on Tue pm, drier air will dry out any
showers, and skies will clear.

Upper heights over the eastern gulf rebound on Tue pm, and surface
high pressure will be centered over north florida on Tue night.

Air mass will be driest early Wed am, with surface dewpoints in
the 50s over the lower keys and 40s for the upper keys. Drier air
and clear skies will make Wed morning the coolest morning of the
week. Surface high pressure will move off into the atlantic on
wed, so this will be our transition period back to southeast low-
level flow and the arrival of warmer and muggier air. By thu
afternoon, pw values will climb back above 1.5", and showers will
start to drift from the florida straits back across the keys.

Long term The next big weather system to cross the southeast
u.S. Will stem from a deep surface low that will cross the lower
mississippi valley on Friday. The cold front trailing this front
has more of a negative tilt. This front will cross the keys around
Friday night or Saturday. Timing is the biggest point of
uncertainty at this point. With the negative tilt, winds following
the front will be more westerly. With post-frontal winds
exhibiting a longer cross-gulf wind fetch to moderate the air
mass, cooling and drying will be somewhat muted from Saturday
night through next Monday. Temperatures merely cooling back down
to near normal by mid- december standards.

Marine Moderate to fresh northwest breezes will continue
tonight and Tuesday. This is in response to surface high pressure
spreading from eastern texas into the lower mississippi valley and
the slow departure of a low pressure center off the carolina
coast. Surface high pressure will cross the northern florida
peninsula on Wed morning, then exit into the atlantic late wed.

Wed will be a transition day as winds veer from northeast to
southeast. This commonly occurs over the straits of florida first,
with the wind shift waiting til Wed afternoon to reach florida
bay. A low pressure system will develop over the lower mississippi
valley Thursday night and Friday. A trailing cold front will push
through the keys coastal waters around Friday night or Saturday.

Timing is the biggest point of uncertainty, with some solutions
pointing to Friday night, while others wait well into Saturday for
the frontal passage. This front will be followed by a shift more
to westerly wind, in contrast to recent fronts that have been
followed by northwest or north wind.

Aviation Tonight, expect a few clouds possible AOA fl025-030
withVFR cigs AOA fl050. Surface winds will average from 330-340
degrees AOA 12 knots with occasional gusts between 15 and 20
knots.

There are five sources. 1) Documents and manuals from a variety of sources. These have not been checked for accuracy and in many cases have not even been read by anyone associated with L-36.com. I have no idea of they are useful or accurate, I leave that to the reader. 2) Articles others have written and submitted. These are not intended to be fact, they are my opinions. 4) Small programs that generate result presented on a web page. Like any computer program, these may and in some cases do have errors. Almost all of these also make simplifying assumptions so they are not totally accurate even if there are no errors. Please verify all results. 5) Weather information is from numerious of sources and is presented automatically. It is not checked for accuracy either by anyone at L-36.com or by the source which is typically the US Government. See the NOAA web site for their disclaimer. Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
