Aviation
Mostly dry andVFR conditions prevail throughout the period.

Easterly winds will persist through the rest of the evening and
overnight. Wind remain easterly tomorrow around 15 knots with higher
gust around 25 knots.

Update
A few showers have appeared on radar early this evening. These
streamers are sweeping across the atlantic fairly quickly with the
breezier flow offshore. Given the influence of fairly strong
ridging aloft, have kept pops on the low end through much of the
overnight hours. Any of the light showers that happen to push
inland should dissipate quickly. No major changes are anticipated
at this time.

Prev discussion issued 350 pm edt Wed may 22 2019
discussion...

strong ridging has nestled firmly in place aloft, and as a
result, a more even-tempered pattern has ushered in across south
florida. The drier conditions can be noted in visible satellite
imagery by mostly clear skies, consisting of a few quick passing
fair weather cumulus. As we progress into the latter portions of
the week, easterly winds will begin to increase as high pressure
at the surface builds out of the northeast from the atlantic. This
will keep the chance of rain fairly low through the period. Also,
temperatures will remain seasonable in the upper 80s along the
east coast and low 90s through the interior.

By the end of the weekend, the axis of the surface high pressure
will be draped across the southeastern us, and be reinforced with
further amplification of the mid-upper level ridge. This deep
layer ridging will continue through the holiday weekend, allowing
temperatures to climb into the upper 80s and mid 90s across the
peninsula. Some locations throughout the interior may experience
afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. However, unlike
areas to our north, temperatures will be moderated by the
persistence of breezy easterly winds and the influence of the
atlantic.

Global models indicate a weakening of the surface ridge at the end
of the forecast period, as the axis retreats eastward into the
western atlantic. Surface winds will thus abate and veer more
southeasterly, allowing for an increase in low-level moisture and
the reintroduction of precipitation by Tuesday.

Marine...

high pressure will keep conditions over the waters dry into early
next week. Increasing easterly winds this evening will allow for
cautionary levels, especially over the atlantic. With seas also
building, a small craft advisory may be needed for atlantic
waters, which could extend into the weekend.

Beach forecast...

easterly winds will continue to increase through the afternoon
into tomorrow, allowing the risk of rip currents to approach
moderate levels on atlantic beaches Thursday. Thereafter,
persistent and breezy easterly winds will likely bring a high risk
of rip currents to atlantic beaches by the weekend and extend
through the memorial day weekend.

Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. For example, there is very little tidal current data in newer data bases so current data is likely wrong to some extent. This data is NOT FOR NAVIGATION. See the XTide disclaimer for details. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
