Update
Mostly clear skies and light east to southeast winds across the
region early this morning. Morning tbw sounding continues to
indicate plenty of moisture across the area with precipitable
water around 1.9 inches and low level east to southeast winds at
10 to 15 knots. Therefore, it looks like the sea breeze regime for
today will be a 7 which indicates scattered to numerous
convection developing and moving northwest with highest pops from
around the interstate 75 corridor westward. Already seeing a
couple of showers moving into highlands county, but most of the
showers and thunderstorms will develop after noon and continue
into the early evening. Overall the forecast looks on track and no
major changes planned for this morning.

Aviation
Some MVFR ceilings will be possible once daytime heating gets
underway during this morning, then scattered to numerous showers
and thunderstorms will cause MVFR local ifr conditions along with
gusty winds up to 30 knots this afternoon and early evening.

Otherwise, mainlyVFR conditions should prevail with east to
southeast winds at 5 to 10 knots, except shifting to onshore close
to the gulf coast this afternoon.

Marine
High pressure will continue to extend across the florida peninsula
and gulf of mexico through the period with rather benign
conditions expected each day. Main hazard will be scattered mainly
late afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms which will be
capable of producing locally gusty winds and rough seas.

Prev discussion issued 358 am edt Tue sep 25 2018
short term (today-Wednesday)...

high pressure will ridge across the area at the surface and aloft
through the period as a trough moves west toward the carolinas
coast today and then lifts north into the low over canada through
Wednesday. This will keep generally light east to southeast winds
with an afternoon sea breeze near the coast each day. Scattered to
numerous showers and thunderstorms will also be possible each day
mainly in the later afternoon and evening hours coming in from
the east coast and also developing along the sea breeze, with the
highest chances near the coast as the two boundaries collide.

Temperatures will continue to be warm, with highs generally in the
lower 90s each day and lows overnight in the lower to mid 70s
inland and in the mid to upper 70s near the coast. Heat index
values will be in the 100 to 105 range each afternoon.

Long term (Wednesday night - Monday)...

broad upper level ridging near bermuda extends west-southwest
over florida and into the gulf of mexico to start out the long
term period. This ridge further builds by late Saturday into
Sunday becoming more west-east oriented and will extend from
bermuda to texas. On the surface, high pressure northeast of
bermuda ridges southwest over florida and into the gulf of mexico,
while a cold front extends south along the eastern seaboard, then
turning west- southwest in georgia and further extending west
through texas. The high pressure will keep any effects of this
front to the north of the area. Another area of high pressure
moves southeast behind this front and will be the dominant weather
feature for the weekend and into next week. A predominant
northeast through southeast wind flow can be expected through the
long term period. Daily showers and storms will form along the
east coast of florida by late morning, move westward over the
inland areas through the afternoon and evening hours with the
highest coverage over the west coast of florida between 18-00z
each day. Daytime highs will continue to be a few degrees above
average with highs in the low to mid 90's region wide with heat
indices reaching 100-105 degrees each day.

Fire weather... No concerns.

Finally, tide and current data on this site is from 2007 and 2008 data bases, which may contain even older data. Changes in harbors due to building or dredging change tides and currents and for that reason many of the locations presented are no longer supported by newer data bases. In addition, tide and current are influenced by storms, river flow, and other factors beyond the ability of any predictive program.
